83. Smash a pumpkin

I didn't smash a pumpkin. I realized what a waste that would be. Instead, I cooked it - something I've always wanted to do.

First (well, after I washed them, cut them, and pulled the seeds out) I baked them. I love this picture just for the steam that was captured.

Next, I pureed, adding water as needed. Yum. Me. I put them in the ball jars and plopped them into the freeze. Hello pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pie, and maybe even pumpkin soup.

  1. Julie. How long do you have to do this after purchasing the pumpkin? We didn't carve ours, left it outside...still "looks" fine??

  2. I've had mine for a long time - probably 5 weeks or even more. Go for it!

  3. Did you roast the seeds? I even get my dearly beloved to clean out the pumpkin...just so he can get the roasted seeds!!

  4. Jana, they are still sitting out on my counter ready to be baked! Can't wait (just waiting on my lazy bum to wash my baking dish so I can toast them!).
