48. Learn to Play Phantom

Well, I bought the music. Two years ago. Then I got pregnant and had a baby. And started homeschooling. So it sat in my piano bench for the past 2 years. It was calling my name in the beginning. Each time I passed my piano bench, I heard it ever-so-softy. Then life got really busy and the crying baby was the only sound I heard. That and the demanding toddler. And the sound of PBS so I could finally get the dishes from 3 days ago cleaned. Seriously...that's been my life for the last 2 years.

Since my youngest is now 10 months, I'm out of the fog. A little while ago, I heard the music calling me again. So, I picked it up and finally played it. Fifteen years ago, it would not have been a difficult piece. However, it's been so long since I've played something other than Heart and Soul, so it was tricky. But, I got through it. It's not perfect, but it's good enough to check it off.

And what I've learned is that I miss playing. I wish I had more spare time so I could pick it up again. Ah well. I'll add that to my list of things to do when the kids are older.
